Along the way he can find "echoes" in the form of shadowy figures or significant locations: using the various capabilities of his phone (also controlled by the Wii remote), Harry can access audio files related to these echoes, which flesh out the story of the town. Using the Wii remote to point Harry's flashlight, the player leads the dutiful dad through shops, schools, and more to get around the snow-blocked streets. He searches for her in the snow-blanketed town of Silent Hill. Shattered Memories puts the player in the shoes of desperate father Harry Mason, whose daughter, Cheryl, has wandered away following a car crash. This serves as an excellent metaphor for the game, actually, because the best ideas of Shattered Memories are all but buried beneath a thick layer of drudgery and frustration. The confrontational therapist and his overt examinations distract the player from the cleverest bits of profiling. The appearance deceives, however: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories monitors where the player looks and what route he chooses through the eponymous town in order to determine what kind of person the main character is. This is absolutely true, although it seems somewhat less impressive when it becomes apparent that the "profiling" will be carried out by an unpleasant fictional psychologist using literal tests. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories kicks off with a giant red warning that informs the player that the game will be profiling him. WTF It seems this therapist is a session drinker. To me this game should not have Silent Hill in the title at all.LOW Almost every nightmare sequence is perfectly awful. So they decided to just reboot the franchise with this game. I feel like when writing this story people caught on that it sounded a whole lot like Silent Hill 1 in the sense of the wreck and Harry searching the town for his missing daughter. Both have sort of similar beginnings in which we have a father wrecking with his daughter and his daughter goes missing. First of all I don't think this game was originally written to be a Silent Hill game. I have a few hunches on what happened with this game. The Silent Hill series has always been noted for its grotesque creatures and you never know when you are going to run into a new one. Instead of having the town turn to what most describe as "hell mode" it turns to this iced over frozen realm where we basically get the same creatures re spawning time and time again. Lisa's character still holds some of that crazy charm she had in the original but keep in mind this one has nothing to do with the original. They bear no resemblance or anything for that matter to most of the characters. First we find out that most of the characters from the first Silent Hill are in Shattered Memories in name only. Then I thought, well it might not be so bad if its a direct remake with amped up graphics. When I heard that Silent Hill was being remade, I was very skeptical. Everyone seems to love the story of Silent Hill 2 the best ( I to am one of those people) but for the atmosphere and pure terrifying chills, the first Silent Hill is the one to visit. It took what Alone in the Dark and Resident Evil had started and then capitalized on it with its own brand of survival horror. I have been a Silent Hill fan since the first game.
